Classroom Discipline
In room 213 we use the “stop light system”. Students are able to keep track of their behavior throughout each day during class. On the desk by the front of the classroom there are 3 different cans. The green can holds all of the sticks with your each of your child’s number on a stick. The other 2 cans have a yellow circle or a red circle. Each student’s goal is to keep their stick in the green can for the day. When a student chooses to break a rule they will be given a verbal warning. If another rule is broken, the student will then move their stick to the yellow can. This second warning results in a five-minute loss of recess. If the problem still continues the child will move their stick to the red can. This warning results in a fifteen-minute loss of recess and a note home explaining why.
Consequences
1st Warning – Verbal warning
2nd Warning – Move stick to yellow can and note home to adult.
3rd Warning – Move stick to red can and note home to adult.
The note should be signed and returned the next day.
**Students will be sent to the principal if their behavior is harmful towards themselves or others.
~At the end of the day your child will have a green, yellow or red stamp in their planners. This will allow you to see how their day went. If your child receives all green stamps for the week, they will receive a “caught being good” on the last day of the week.
Positive Reinforcement
If a student chooses to behave appropriately, he/she will earn positive rewards such as verbal praises, treasure chest, carnival tickets, and Tiger Tags.
Each day each child starts with a “clean slate.”
It is in your child’s best interest that the parents and educators work together with the regard to your child’s education. This plan will be discussed daily in class the first month of school and thereafter when the need arises. Please discuss the plan with your child. Your support is needed and greatly appreciated! Thanks!
